Store bread cut side down on a wooden board, not in the fridge. A linen bag keeps the crust crisp for a day or two. Freeze slices you will not eat within three days and toast them straight from the freezer. Revive a dry loaf with a splash of water and five minutes in a hot oven. And buy smaller loaves more often.
